CTA / CTV Brain

Localization

Artery

[left | right | bilateral]

Segment

  • [proximal | distal]
  • [inferior | superior] division of

[C | M | A | P] + [lt | rt] + {num} + {artery}

Ex:

  • at left proximal M1 MCA.
  • inferior division of right M2 MCA

Main

Ant

  • intracranial internal carotid [artery (ICA) | arteries (ICAs)]
  • anterior cerebral [artery (ACA) | arteries (ACAs)]
  • middle cerebral [artery (MCA) | arteries (MCAs)]

Post

  • vertebral (VA)
  • cerebellar and posterior cerebral arteries (PCAs)

CTA Brain

Normal

CTA

  • Anterior circulation: Normal enhancement of bilateral intracranial internal carotid arteries (ICAs), anterior cerebral arteries (ACAs), anterior communicating artery (ACoA) and bilateral middle cerebral arteries (MCAs). No embolic occlusion or aneurysm is identified.

  • Collateral grading: Multiphase CTA shows ___ collaterals (score __)*.

  • Posterior circulation and venous structures: Normal enhancement of the vertebral (VA), cerebellar and posterior cerebral arteries (PCA). No embolic occlusion, severe stenosis or aneurysm is identified.

Neck vasculature:

  • Right-sided neck: Normal enhancement of common, cervical internal/external carotid and vertebral arteries. No severe stenosis or occlusion is identified.

  • Left-sided neck: Normal enhancement of common, cervical internal/external carotid and vertebral arteries. No severe stenosis or occlusion is identified.

  • Aortic arch and branches within thorax: Normal aortic arch branching pattern. No severe stenosis or aneurysm is identified.

  • Venous structures: The major venous sinuses are patent. No abnormal filling defect is detected.

*Criteria and image examples of collaterals are developed by the University of Calgary and can be viewed at http://aspectsinstroke.com/collateral-scoring

Abnormal

Stenosis

[Severe stenosis/total occlusion | Moderate stenosis | Mild stenosis] of ___ arteries/artery

Atherosclerois

(+) with [Atherosclerosis | atherosclerotic changes] of ___ arteries/artery
